Kindergarten Phase-in Week

The first week of school for kindergarteners will be a phase-in week where students will attend TWICE to allow for small groups to learn and to feel comfortable as they adjust to routines.

Please see the below schedule to determine the dates your child will attend during that week to assist you in your planning.  These days will be full days at school (8:30am – 3:30pm).  Students who arrive prior to 8:15 will wait in the gym until the bell rings for them to go to their class.  Adults will be in there to supervise, and for the phase-in week, you may wait in the gym with your child if you would like.  Please note that assignments to specific teachers will not be made until after the New Student Registration on July 27, so please be patient as you wait to hear from your child’s teacher before August 01.  We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our school family.

Monday, August 8th: last names A-I
Tuesday, August 9th: last names J-Q
Wednesday, August 10th: last names R-Z

Thursday, August 11th: last names A-L
Friday, August 12th: last names M-Z
The following Monday, August 15, ALL Kindergarteners will begin school full-time.

Kindergarten Registration Update

We have two registration evenings. August 4 or August 6, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. These are come and go, and you choose either one you would like to attend. For Kindergarten, when you enter the building, please turn left and visit some of the tables in the cafeteria either before or after you visit the Related Arts pod where you will sign up for a 30 minute time slot on August 10, 11, or 12 when your child will work with one of the teachers on the Kindergarten testing. Then on the afternoon of the 12th, you will receive a phone call from his/her teacher letting you know whether your child will then come a FULL day on Thursday the 13th or Friday the 14th. Then ALL Kindergarten students report on Monday the 17th.

That evening you will be asked to fill out some more paper work. We MAY be able to have some of these available online prior to that evening, but some will still be necessary then, and we appreciate your patience. You will be asked to participate in a parent survey in one of the computer labs In the Related Arts pod that evening, and even though you may be new to our school, your input will be appreciated as it serves as part of our AdvancEd Accreditation for the State. All schools in Sumner County are participating in this anonymous survey aimed at helping us target areas of strength and areas of focus for our school’s service to you. While it is voluntary, your help would be appreciated, and the teachers can give you more information that evening.

The cafeteria will have tables set up for Lunch Accounts, Transportation Questions and materials, PTO information, opportunities to purchase ILE Spirit Wear, and various other displays about YMCA Fun Company Before/After Care, and various extra-curricular offerings.

There are no “activity fees” asked of our parents as has been the case in years passed, so that is great news! As a completely OPTIONAL service to you, if you would prefer to not fight the back-to-school crowds for school supplies on the recommended list, we offer the opportunity to purchase any/all of the items on the sheet you will receive here at school, and those items would be delivered directly to your child’s classroom. Our bookstore stocks items throughout the year, too, should you need to replenish materials. Again this is completely optional and a courtesy we extend to our parents. MANY parents have expressed their appreciation for one fewer item to worry about for back to school. Yet again, we stress there are no mandatory fees.

We are sure you will have many questions, but our teachers will be ready to meet you and answer those for you on either August 4th or August 6th. New student registration is Monday, July 27th, if you are new to our area and would like to come pre-register as many did in the Spring. Also, if you have updated proofs of residency, immunization cards, birth certificates, or any other materials to bring, our teachers can assist you with those that night, too.

Again, we welcome you to Indian Lake, and we hope this is the start of an unbelievably happy journey for your child. Thank you for choosing us and for trusting us with your precious child!

With warmest regards,

Your Kindergartener will come to school 1 of the 3 Testing Days and either Thursday or Friday. You will be able to pick which Testing Day you would like to come to school on Registration Night.
