Julie Bender, Reading Intervention Specialist

Ijuliebender have been teaching elementary students for 14 years.  I have taught fifth grade, first grade, and kindergarten.  I was trained at Ball State University in Muncie, IN.  This is my first year as an interventionist for ILE. I am excited to provide support for students in small groups across all grade levels in reading and math. I have a special love for reading and especially for looking at concepts in new and different ways with students.

My family moved to Hendersonville from my hometown of Fort Wayne, IN about 10 years ago.  I have been married to Thomas for 18 years.  He is currently a TN National Guardsman and pilot for Southwest Airlines.  We have two great kids.  Our son is both musical and technological.  He is 15 and is a freshman at Pope John Paul the Second.  We also have a spirited and athletic daughter who is 11.  She is a sixth grader at Ellis Middle School.  As a family we love being active at our church, hiking, and family movie nights.
